The device for the incipient Canton of Basingestoches uses a field division to denote the sunrise out of the sea. This symbolizes Downeast Maine’s status as the “first light of the nation” via Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. The colors, tower and laurel all show fealty and participation in the Barony of Endewearde. The heraldic device for Endewearde’s Canton of Wyndriche served as an inspiration and the Downeast group enjoyed utilizing the same imagery as Endewearde, yet in a way that was unique.
